A Lula woman was injured and a Maysville woman was killed in a wreck Saturday afternoon in Banks County.

"A Cadillac SUV was negotiating a curve westbound on Highway 51 near Parsons Circle, crossed the centerline and struck an eastbound Ford 500 passenger car," the Georgia State Patrol's Joshua Hedden wrote in an email.  "After impact, the passenger car came to rest in the ditch along the south shoulder while the SUV traveled off the south shoulder, overturned, and came to rest down an embankment."

Hedden said the driver of the Ford, Jessica Smith, 22, Lula, was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. Her passengers, he added, Joseph Armour, 34, also of Lula, and a four-month-old were also taken to the hospital "to be checked out."

Hedden said the driver of the Cadillac, Carol Elizabeth Lynch, 48, Maysville, was thrown from her vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident happened about 3:15.
