COLUMBUS — The Flowery Branch girls soccer team rallied from an early deficit to beat Columbus 2-1 Tuesday in the semifinals of the Class 4A playoffs.
The Lady Falcons (18-2-2) ran their unbeaten streak to 16 with the victory, which also pushed them into their first ever state championship match. They will take on St. Pius, a 3-2 winner over Blessed Trinity, in the finals on Friday at 5 p.m. at Five Star Stadium in Macon.
Flowery Branch created a lot of chances but the Columbus keeper stoned the Lady Falcons in the first half.
Larsyn Reid finally got Flowery Branch on the board scoring on a serpentine run through the Columbus defense and then burying a shot to tie the game. Mollie Langner got the eventual game-winner for the Lady Falcons.
The championship will be a rematch from a game earlier in the season. The Lady Golden Eagles scored in the waning seconds to salvage a 2-2 tie in a game played in Atlanta.
