After 80 minutes and an overtime period, the No. 6-ranked Jefferson boys soccer team and fourth-ranked East Hall remained scoreless in the second round of the Class 3A playoffs in Jefferson.
The next step, penalty kicks.
Each team had five opportunities to score and Jefferson goalkeeper Javy Flores told his team to jump on his back.
Flores denied all five East Hall (14-4, Region 7-3A No. 2 seed) PKs and converted Jefferson’s lone penalty kick to send the Dragons (16-2, Region 8-3A No. 1 seed) to the quarterfinals for the first time in the program’s history.
The Dragons will host the winner of Worth County/Tattnall game on Wednesday.
