OAKWOOD — The Johnson boys opened defense of their Class 5A state championship with a dominating 6-0 win over Arabia Mountain Wednesday at The Dungeon.

The Knights (15-2-1) outshot Arabia Mountain (7-9-1) 51-1 for the match.

Junior Arellano recorded a hat trick and had an assist while Jonathan Miralrio added a pair of goals for Johnson. Jose Gomez had a goal and two assists for the Knights. Eliam Chavez and  Cole Bowen each added an assist

Cole Bowen, Alex Arellano, Miguel Rubio, and Chavez helped keep the Arabia Mountain offense under wraps with some dominating midfield. The defensive line of Cristian Maldonado and Rudy Orosco also were solid in front of keeper Cooper Bowen.

Johnson will play host to Villa Rica next week in the second round.
