ATLANTA – Former Flowery Branch standout Taniyah Worth has decided to take her basketball skills to Georgia State University.
Georgia State women’s basketball coach Gene Hill announced the addition of worth along with three other Georgia natives to the program.
Worth joins Hannah Sadler (Parkview) and Tehya Lyons (Norcross) as the newest members of the Lady Panthers.
Coming off the team’s first postseason appearance since 2003, Hill welcomed three key pieces to the program’s future with Tuesday’s announcement.
“We are so excited to be able to bring these three Georgia kids back home to reach our ultimate goal of Georgia State finishing in the top of the Sun Belt and reaching the NCAA tournament,” Hill said.
Worth played her freshman season at Alabama and appeared in 10 games for the Crimson Tide.
The Flowery Branch native was ranked as the No. 14 wing according to HoopGurlz ESPNW coming out of high school. She led Flowery Branch to a 2018 AAAAA state runner-up finish. She was named Atlanta Journal-Constitution First Team AAAAA All-State in 2017, AJC Honorable-Mention AAAAA All-State in 2016, and Atlanta Tipoff Club Honorable Mention.
Worth also competed in track during high school and won the state championship in the high jump in 2018.
“She is a big wing with great size and athleticism who will be able to have an immediate impact with how we play,” Hill said.
Hannah Sadler | Old Dominion | Parkview H.S. | Lilburn, Ga.
Hannah Sadler is transferring to GSU from Old Dominion. Sadler calls Lilburn, Ga., home and played at Parkview H.S. At Parkview, she averaged 12 points and 10 rebounds during her senior season and was an All-County and All-Region selection. Her father, Al Sadler, played nine years of professional baseball.
In her freshman season at ODU, Sadler appeared in 23 contests, scoring a season-high seven points against FIU and recording a season-high five rebounds against FAU.
“Her height and athleticism are going to bring a new dimension to our style of play on both ends of the floor,” Hill said.
Tehya Lyons | Pittsburgh | Norcross H.S. | Norcross, Ga.
Tehya Lyons, a native of Norcross, Ga., is coming home to Georgia State from Pittsburgh. Coming out of high school, Lyons was rated as a three-star prospect according to ESPN and was ranked No. 28 at the guard position. She was a three-time regional champion, state runner-up and scholar-athlete award recipient at Norcross.
Lyons was named to the GA Region 7-AAAAAAA Team of the Year, the GA Region 7A first team, the Gwinnett All-County Tip-Off Club Team, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution All-State Region 7A second team and the 2017 Georgia Athletic Coaches Association All-Star Team (North).
“She is a true PG in all aspects of the game. I watched her play at an early age and she has continued to get better and better every year. She will give us depth and leadership immediately,” Hill said.
