A new electric battery plant in Jackson County will receive around $3,000,000 in grants, land, and tax breaks for building their new plant there.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports the county and state pooled their resources to offer the big incentive package to SK Innovations and the company plans to hire around 2,000 people.
Other perks include sales tax exemptions for equipment and energy as well as tax credits for research and development.
The factory expects to open in two phases and, once fully staffed, will produce about a quarter of a million batteries for electric vehicles each year.
