A structure fire in an Alto commercial building is under investigation with the Banks County Fire and Emergency Services after causing moderate damage on Tuesday.
A press release from Banks County Fire Chief Steve Nichols' office says firefighers were called to a structure fire at around 7:55 a.m. along Government Drive in Alto. Upon arrival, the Banks County and responding Jackson County Fire Department units found a commercial building with smoke showing from the attic area.
Nichols says the fire was quickly located and extinguished within three hours, as crews were able to contain fire damage to the area of origin.
No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire was determined to be accidental and an electrical problem could not be ruled out as the cause. The structure was listed as having moderate damage.
