GAINESVILLE — The North Hall girls tennis team clinched the No. 1 seed in the upcoming Region 7-3A tournament with a dominating 5-0 win over Dawson County Thursday at home.
The North Hall boys took a 4-1 win over the Tigers to complete the sweep and can lock the No. 2 seed with a win over East Hall next week in their region finale.
For the Lady Trojans (11-3, 5-0 Region 7-3A) Anna Montgomery defeated Kathryn Menoche 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, Lauren Davis beat Tyler Perry 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles, and Baylee Turner held off Abey Haymond 6-3, 6-4 at No. 3 singles.
In doubles action, Sydney Patterson and Raquel Kallab beat Sam Hafermalz and Kaylee Hamilton 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 and Ella Oxley and Lauren White defeated Ashlyn Anglin and Carly Sticker 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2.
In the boys match, North Hall (8-6, 4-1 Region 7-3A) got singles wins from Kody Dills over Chandler Ingram 6-2, 6-1 at the No. 2 slot and Jonathan Elder rallied past Devin Garlock 3-6, 6-1, 6-2 at the No. 3 position. Dawson County got its lone win at No. 1 singles as Elijah Stanfield knocked off Ethan Surles 7-5, 6-3.
The Trojans swept the doubles as the No. 1 team of Forrester Terry and Jackson Roush defeated Brendan Swafford and Bailey Jennings 6-4, 6-3 and Noah Wagner and Jake Bruce beat Christian Nygord and Wil Clark 6-2, 6-3 at No. 2 doubles.
North Hall travels to Lakeview on Monday.
