Investigation of fatal Cleveland wreck with pedestrian continues

CLEVELAND – A Cleveland woman died after being struck by a vehicle late Monday night.

Cleveland Police Chief John Foster said the collision occurred at 11:16 p.m. Monday, March 4, on North Main Street at Allison Drive.

Upon arrival, Cleveland police officers discovered the accident involved a vehicle that had struck a pedestrian. The woman was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center, where she succumbed to her injuries.  

According to Foster, the initial investigation indicates that the victim was crossing the street when struck by the vehicle. 

Foster identified the victim as 22-year-old Courtney D. Kirkpatrick of Cleveland. 

The driver, 27-year-old Dale N. Hightower of Cleveland, remained on scene, Foster said.  

According to Foster, the investigation is continuing with assistance from Georgia State Patrol, White County Sheriff’s Office, and White County Coroner’s office.
