DAHLONEGA — The North Georgia women's tennis team won a fierce battle vs Tusculum Monday, 5-2, as freshman Claudelle Lebonte-Frey clinched at No. 6 singles.
The Nighthawks struggled in doubles, losing all three matches to go 0-1 down with Tusculum winning each match by scores of 6-3 or 6-4.
UNG battled back, though, winning five of the six singles matches, including a three-set thriller at No. 2 singles when third-ranked Vaishali Jorge won her match, 6-7, 7-6, 6-3 to put the Nighthawks up, 4-2, at that point.
The women's tennis team will return to the court as early as Tuesday as they open up conference play with a home match vs Augusta. Play will begin at 1:30 p.m.
