UNG men upset No. 25 Francis Marion

DAHLONEGA — Behind a 27-point performance from Zez Steeple, the University of North Georgia men's basketball team upset the No. 25 team in the nation, Francis Marion, 87-75 Saturday afternoon at the UNG Convocation Center.

The Nighthawks jumped out to a 21-point lead before the Patriots clawed back to tie the game at 60. From that point, UNG took back over and was able to hold on and hit free throws down the stretch to secure the win.

NOTES
- Steeple's 27 came on 7-of-13 shooting, including 6-of-10 from distance. Shawn Hopkins added 19, while Ephraim Tshimanga put up 16 points in the win.

- UNG outrebounded the Patriots, 51-28.

- North Georgia was 22-for-31 at the free throw line.

NEXT UP
UNG will now turn their attention to another nationally ranked team as No. 21 UNC Pembroke comes to town for a 3:30 p.m. showdown tomorrow in Dahlonega.
