COLUMBUS — A defensive clinic in the second quarter pushed the North Georgia women's basketball team past Columbus State Wednesday night, 61-44.
The Nighthawks held the Cougars scoreless for the first 9:26 of the second quarter to extend what was a nine point lead after the first quarter to a 19 point advantage at the half. From there, UNG went stride for stride with Columbus State to get the 17 point victory and the regular season sweep of the Cougars.
NOTES
- Vanessa Agrusa and Tamera Thorpe each scored 14 points to lead North Georgia in scoring. Julianne Sutton finished with 13 points and nine rebounds, just one board short of her third straight double-double.
- The Nighthawks assisted on 20 of 26 made baskets, while CSU had just six assists on 15 made buckets. UNG held the Cougars to just 23.4 percent shooting.
