Hunters discover human skeleton in Flowery Branch

By B.J. Williams

Two deer hunters found human skeletal remains in the Flowery Branch area Thursday afternoon, and the Hall County Sheriff's Office is now investigating.

"Sheriff’s deputies responded to the initial call at approximately 1:15 p.m. on property near the intersection of Trudy Drive and Lights Ferry Road," said Sheriff's Office spokesman Derreck Booth in an email statement. "Two deer hunters who were authorized to hunt on the land discovered the remains and called 911."

Booth said investigators responded to the scene, as well, and processed the scene.

Booth said investigators have what he called "good leads" on the identity of the deceased person.

The skeletal remains were taken to the GBI Crime Lab in Atlanta.
