Southbound lanes of Interstate 85 near Braselton were shut down for several hours Friday morning after a tractor-trailer truck and a utility truck apparently sideswiped each other.
The accident happened about 5:10 a.m. when a tractor-trailer in the middle lane and driven by Gary Kanaday, 62, of Hanceville, Alabama and the utility truck in the left lane and driven by An Nguyen, 50, of Tucker collided, according to a news release from the Georgia State Patrol. Both vehicles traveled off the roadway, coming to rest on the east shoulder.
The two drivers suffered minor injuries. The state patrol will continue to investigate the accident to determine who was at fault.
