The North Georgia Community Foundation has selected 27 non-profit organizations to receive a Community Impact Grant this year.
More than $152,800 was awarded this year, a significant increase from the $66,611 given in 2018. The increase in the grants awarded is due to two estate gifts received by NGCF in 2018.
“The individuals who made these gifts had the forethought to leave a lasting legacy that would help others for generations to come.” said Michelle Prater, President & CEO of NGCF, “We are blessed to work with a generous community who cares about meeting the needs of others.”
These grants are spread across northeast Georgia to help address an array of community initiatives and programs. On November 1 and 4 the recipients will gather at the NGCF office to celebrate their grant award with the NGCF team and board.
Recipients of funding through the 2019 grant cycle include the following organizations:
*Banks County
Dirt Road Doggies Rescue to build a physical shelter facility holding dogs diagnosed with heartworm and hookworm.
*Forsyth County
Forsyth County Public Library to fund Forsyth Remembers: an oral history project designed to capture residents’ remembrances of historical events.
SAAFT to support Healing the Hurt: Trauma-Informed Family Therapy Program to address the trauma creating dysfunction within families.
*Franklin County
Franklin County Mentor Volunteer Program to add additional mentors and support to existing mentors of the Heroes program.
Steadfast Family Farm to assist with the completion of the covered horse-riding arena allowing services to be offered regardless of the weather..
*Hall County
Edmondson-Telford Center for Children to provide services including forensic medical exams to those witnessing abuse.
WomenSource to fund Girl Power 2020: A Clear Vision on Addiction which educates teenage girls on different forms of addiction and available resources.
Gateway Domestic Violence Center to expand their shelter to accommodate more survivors in its residential and support group spaces.
Georgia Mountain YMCA to support the School Literacy Program whose goal is to increase student literacy in Hall County by assisting with reading, homework, etc.
Good News Clinics to provide flu and pneumonia vaccines for uninsured patients with serious chronic conditions.
Hispanic Alliance to fund a dental health access initiative for Latino children in Hall County.
Habitat for Humanity of Hall County to purchase new technology for the Habitat for Humanity of Hall County ReStore.
Hall-Dawson CASA to purchase four laptops for volunteer supervisors to document court hearings and meetings.
Boys & Girls Clubs of Lanier to fund iRead Program: a digital foundational reading program serving youth K-2.

Hart Partners/Communities in Schools to expand their academic mentoring and tutoring program.
*Jackson County
Piedmont CASA to aid volunteer recruitment, training and support programs.
*Lumpkin County
Jeremiah’s Place to support their transitional housing program for homeless individuals and families.
*Rabun County
F.A.I.T.H. to replace the forensic recording system that facilitates forensic interviews with children.
Rabun Paws 4 Life to assist with spay/neuter surgeries for pets of families who need financial assistance.
*Towns County
Ansley’s Rainbows of Hope for basic needs assistance to families with children critically ill or injured.
*Multiple Counties
Georgia Mountain Food Bank to assist with increasing their impact and efficiency through technology.
Georgia Mountain Story Festival to fund therapeutic storytelling helping those in the recovery community.
Sisu to purchase iPads which will be used to enhance communication therapy.
Rape Response to provide an education coordinator for middle, high school, and college students, at risk youth, parents.
Chattahoochee River Keepers to replenish supplies used during the floating classroom school programs.
Humane Society of Northeast Georgia to aid the surgical suite renovation.
American Red Cross for home fire prevention and recovery for adults and children.
