Hall County: Tool thief at large, Amazon scam reported

By Ken Stanford Contributing Editor

The Hall County Sheriff's Office is appealing to the public for help in locating a tool thief and Flowery Branch authorities are warning of an Amazon scam.

In an effort to help identify and locate the tool thief, the sheriff's department has posted a video on its Facebook page of a theft that took place earlier this month.

"The property crimes section of the Criminal Investigations Division of the Hall County Sheriff’s Office got its hands on some pretty good surveillance video of a burglary in progress on the afternoon of Thursday, October 10," reads a narrative accompanying the video.

"The suspect pulled a late-model Chevrolet pickup truck into the driveway of a residence on Chamblee Road and helped himself to some tools that didn’t belong to him."

Anyone with any information about the suspect or the truck he was driving is asked to call Investigator Grindle with the Hall County Sheriff's Office at (770) 533-7687.

Meanwhile, the Flowery Branch Police Department's Facebook page has a warning about a scam the department has been made aware of.

"Please be aware that there is currently a scam going on in our area," reads the posting.  "Someone is calling and pretending to work for Amazon and advising people that their accounts had been compromised. Please do not accept these calls and if you are concerned about your Amazon account go to their website and utilize their contact methods to speak with them."
