FLOWERY BRANCH — Former Gainesville head football coach Bruce Miller, who guided the Red Elephants to the Class 3A state title in 2012, is joining the Flowery Branch staff as a lay coach for the upcoming 2019 season.
Falcons coach Ben Hall confirmed a text sent to AccessWDUN and Friday Game Night about the addition to his staff.
“It was a mutual thing really where we were interested in him coming here and he was interested to keep coaching,” Hall said. “We’re very excited about having him join us. I feel like I would personally benefit from the knowledge he has of the game and about coaching.”
Miller, who stepped down from Gainesville at the end of the 2017 season, spent the 2018 season helping Lakeview Academy.
“When I left Gainesville I felt like I still had some coaching years left in me,” Miller said. “I love to coach football and I love working with kids and trying to help them reach their potential. If I can have an influence on even one kid’s life in a positive way I still want to be able to do that.
“I think this is going to be a real good fit for me and for Coach Hall and Flowery Branch. I’m excited about getting started in whatever way they want me to do to help.”
Hall said Miller will be the quarterbacks coach when prep for Spring practice begins in February.
