Forsyth County Emergency Management officials invite you to learn more about being prepared for emergencies as well as receive a free weather radio.
EMA Deputy Director Chris Grimes said they'll host three events this month in order to answer any questions and help residents stay prepared.
“The radios will come pre-programmed to alert residents of weather advisories in Forsyth County,” Grimes said. “We were able to obtain the radios through a grant and are hopeful that residents will utilize them in hazardous weather situations.”
He said the All Hazards NOAA Weather Radios and emergency preparedness information will be available on a first come, first serve basis and he said they came from, "GEMA and FEMA as part of a Hazard Mitigation Grant that we received 1,000 weather radios to be able to give out to the citizens of Forsyth County."
The dates and times for the events are listed below:
Tuesday, September 18 – Old Atlanta Park Rec. Center (810 Nichols Rd.)
Thursday, September 20 – Fowler Park Rec. Center (4110 Carolene Way)
Tuesday, September 25 – Central Park Rec. Center (2300 Keith Bridge Rd.)
Along with distributing the weather radios, Forsyth County EMA is also urging residents to take time throughout the National Preparedness Month to plan and prepare for disasters and emergency situations such as severe weather.
