*WoodmenLife Cornelia Chapter 553 recently donated $500 to the North Georgia Technical College Foundation. The gift will be used to fund a scholarship for any student with a documented financial need. Applications are available by emailing [email protected] or by calling 706-754-7714.
*The Campus Gate Art Gallery at Young Harris College presents the works of Kymberly Day. The exhibit will open on Thursday, August 30, with a reception at 6 p.m. Day’s exhibit will be on display through Friday, September 28 during regular gallery hours (Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.). The reception and exhibit are free and open to the public.
*The Forsyth County Board of Commissioners recently presented a resolution commending Graham Bishop, Rachel Carlisle, Josef Scarboro and Madeline Wersal for their skill in the sport of archery. They are members of the Forsyth County 4-H Recurve Archery Team which placed first at the 4-H State Target Challenge Weekend and represented the state this summer at the National Shooting Sports Championship in Grand Island, Nebraska.
*The White County Republican Party will meet Monday, Aug. 20, at 6:30 p.m. in the Nix Student Center on the campus of Truett McConnell University. Guest speaker will be Cleveland City Manager Tom O'Bryant. He will be discussing the new buildings and renovations that the city is planning for the Police Department and City Hall.
*The City of Suwanee won Downtown Excellence Awards in the Volunteer and Organization categories at the 2018 Georgia Downtown Association Conference. Janice and Paul Beavin and Robin and David Sullivan were named Volunteers of the Year for their work on the Suwanee Fest Planning Committee.
