Current zoning restrictions in Forsyth County limit construction of new apartment complexes to be included only in mixed-use projects but commissioners recently voted to possibly restrict them even further.
Planning Director Tom Brown spoke with commissioners about the idea at a recent work session saying, "The apartments would only be allowed in this corridor. They would not be allowed outside of it."
District 1 Commissioner Pete Amos voted against the proposal to limit apartments to only within a 2,500 foot node of property along Georgia Highway 400.
The next step involves a series of public hearings on the matter at future regularly scheduled meetings.
