Crowd gathers for 4th National Day of Prayer in Hall County

Many people don't know but the nation's first call to prayer took place in 1775 when colonists were asked to pray for wisdom in forming a new nation; the same nation covered in prayer today.

Today's observance of the National Day of Prayer marked the 4th organized event in Hall County.

The larger crowd separated into smaller groups and prayed for the government, the churches across all denominations, and the many faces of today's family.

Others looked to God to cover the success of business, the influence of the media, and for believers and non-believers alike.

Still other prayers covered the military, education, and life in general, which totaled 8 different prayer stations.

The fair weather drew a larger crowd than in years past when participants faced cold and rain.

Former President Harry Truman signed the day into law in 1952.
