Grandmother from Hart Co. serving 10-year sentence for grandson's death in dog attack

By AccessWDUN Staff
A Hart County grandmother charged last summer with murder after her toddler grandson died in a dog attack has reached a plea deal in the case.

Sandra Adams entered a guilty plea to a charge of involuntary manslaughter in the case involving her 20-month-old grandson, according to a report in the Atlanta Journal Constitution. In exchange for the plea, Adams will serve a 10-year prison sentence.

The little boy died last August after he was attacked by dogs on Adams' property on Highland Avenue in Hartwell. She rushed the child to a local urgent care facility, but he died about 30 minutes after the attack.

Initially, Adams had been charged with second degree murder, cruelty to children in the second degree and involuntary manslaughter.

At the time, the GBI said Adams had been cited by Hartwell police on multiple occasions for maintaining disorderly animals.
