*Broad Street in Gainesville will be closed Saturday between 7:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. from the entrance/exit of the Hall County Parking Deck to Henry Ward Way due to work on the Hall County Courthouse.  Access to and from the parking deck off Broad Street will remain open.

*Coy Bowles, member of the Zac Brown Band, will visit Mundy Mill Learning Academy in Gainesville Wednesday to read his new book “Behind the Little Red Door” to Pre-K students.  The Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning partnered with Bowles to publish the book as part of this year’s celebration of the 25th birthday of Georgia’s Pre-K program.  

*Michael Buchanan presents a “Writing for the Screen” workshop Saturday, May 5, 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the Dahlonega Funeral Home Community Room (20 Gibson Rd.)  Buchanan is a writer, actor, and movie producer best-known for his The Fat Boy Chronicles (book and movie).  Registration is now open at www.literaryfestival.org.  The event, sponsored by the Dahlonega Literary Festival, 

*Another student from Fannin County has been admitted to one of the United States military academies. Makenzie Ralston of Blue Ridge will attend the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy as part of the class of 2022.
