Habersham officials investigating reported shooting

CLARKESVILLE — Habersham County officials are continuing their investigation of an assault on Talmadge Drive in the Hollywood community Sunday night, Feb. 25.

Details of the 9 p.m. incident are still scarce, but Sheriff’s Lt. Matt Wurtz did release some preliminary information in a media statement Monday afternoon.

“When Habersham County deputies arrived, the victim informed them he believed that he had been shot in the head,” the statement reads. “Deputies indicated they observed a large open injury to the head of the victim. The victim told the Deputies that the injury occurred at a residence on Hollywood Canyon Drive, Clarkesville.”

The victim told deputies he went to check on a home on Hollywood Canyon Drive and was attacked by several unknown males, one of whom had an unknown type pistol and pointed it at the victim, according to Wurtz. There also was one female with the males.

The suspects were believed to be occupying a black four-door sedan, possibly a Kia.
