Soccer: JHS boys, Buford girls, East Hall boys take wins; Lady Vikings salvage tie

OAKWOOD — The Johnson boys soccer team improved to 2-0 on the season after taking an impressive 6-0 win Sonoraville Friday night at Billy Ellis Memorial Stadium.

Rigo Campa and Jonathan Miralrio each netted a pair of goals and Marco Vazquez and Michael Arcia had one goal apiece for the offense. Campa added an assist and Diego Chavez and Villanel Albarran also recorded one assist each for the Knights.

Cooper Bowen and Isias Castaneda shared the win in goal but it was the Johnson defense that was outstanding holding Sonoraville to just one shot on goal for the match.

Johnson will be back in action on Tuesday at home against Class AAAAAAA Mountain View.

 

EAST HALL BOYS 3,
GILMER 0

The Vikings opened their season in style with a shutout win on the road.

Sergio Turcios scores twice while Freddy Rebollar scored one goal for East Hall. Maury Ibarra had two assists and Carlos Pulido had one assist.

The Vikings defense was stout denying the Bobcats a single shot on goal for the match.

 

EAST HALL GIRLS 1,
GILMER 1

Jenny Jimenez scored the only goal of the night for East Hall off an assist from Halie Parker.

Graciela Aviles had 6 saves in goal for the Lady Vikings.

 

BUFORD GIRLS 4,
NORTH HALL 1

Reagan Coleman scored twce and Julia Lewis and Heidi Orr each had one goal to lead the Lady Wolves  (1-1) to their first victory of the season at home.

Myra Zimmerman netted North Hall's lone goal and Kadie Sullens was in goal for the Lady Trojans.

North Hall next will travel to East Jackson on Tuesday. Buford next will play host to Lanier on Tuesday.
