A Toccoa woman died after her vehicle left the road for unknown reasons in Stephens County Wednesday morning.

Kirsty Danielle Sears (Franco), 25, was driving a silver 2007 Saturn Ion Level 3 west on West Silver Shoals Road attempting to negotiate a left curve, according to the Georgia State Patrol. The car traveled off the right side of the roadway for no known reason, striking numerous trees before coming to rest facing south.

Sears was trapped inside the vehicle for an extended time after the crash, according to GSP.

Troopers estimate the crash happened about 7 a.m., but went unreported for some 40 minutes.

Sears was wearing a lap and shoulder belt, and there was no airbag deployment, the GSP report states.

She had to be extricated from the vehicle and was flown to Greenville Memorial Hospital by Gainesville-based AirLife Georgia 2 medical helicopter, arriving at the hospital at 9:35 a.m., according to GSP.

GSP released full details of the wreck, that occurred in the area of Racetrack Road, Thursday afternoon following notification of next of kin.
