It won't happen in time for Black Friday shopping, but Gainesville's downtown parking deck should be open by Monday, Nov. 26 in time for the busy holiday season on the Downtown Gainesville Square.
Gainesville City Manager Bryan Lackey told city council members at a Tuesday night meeting at least part of the deck will be available for parking at the start of the week.
"At least the first three levels of it [will reopen] - not the new part, but the existing levels," Lackey said. "We're excited to get that back opened."
Lackey said he was unsure how early the deck would be available for parking.
The deck has been closed since September 24 as part of a downtown redevelopment plan. Two new levels and 180 additional parking spaces have been added to the structure.
