UPDATE: Police identify body found on Suwanee walking trail

By B.J. Williams
While a good bit of mystery still surrounds the circumstances of a suspicious death on a walking trail in Suwanee, police have now identified the victim.

Gwinnett County Police Department (GCPD) investigators said the deceased man is Willian A. Tunchez, 21, of Lawrenceville.

A group of children discovered the man's body around 5 p.m. Monday on a trail behind some homes on Northcliff Drive in an unincorporated part of the city. Tunchez had been reported missing earlier in the day by his father, according to a press statement from police.

The father told officers he had last seen his son on Sunday around 9 p.m. when he dropped off a sibling at their home and then left to visit a family member.

Police said the family member does not live in the neighborhood where the body was found, and investigators are still trying to determine the relationship between Tunchez and the location where he was discovered. The press statement said his vehicle was found parked along the curb a few houses away from the crime scene.

The cause of death for Tunchez is still undetermined. His body is undergoing an autopsy.

GCPD detectives said they are still accepting tips in the case at 770-513-5300 or via Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477.
