White County bridge rehab among safety projects awarded by GDOT

GAINESVILLE – The Georgia Department of Transportation announced three projects have been awarded for the purpose of enhancing or creating safety on state routes.

According to a release from GDOT a resurfacing project was awarded in Clarke and Madison Counties for approximately five miles on State Route 8.

This project was awarded to C. W. Matthews Contracting Company Inc. of Marietta for the contract amount of $3,293,278.08. This work is scheduled to be completed November, 2018. 

Secondly, a cable barrier installation project in Green and Morgan Counties also encompasses a small portion of District One's Walton County.

The project will install cable barriers along State Route 402/ I-20.  Massana Construction of Tyrone was awarded this $4.5 million project with a completion date of November 30, 2018.

And third, bridge rehabilitation in White County on State Route 11/ US 129 over Little Tesnatee Creek was awarded to Comanche Construction of Marietta.

This project contract award amount was $969,337.00 and will be completed July 31, 2018. 

According to GDOT future construction meetings will be held prior to any dirt moving on these projects, after that time information about official start dates and lane closures will be made available.
