Swimmer's body recovered from Georgia lake

CARTERSVILLE, Ga. (AP) Officials say the body of a Chicago man who disappeared while swimming in a Georgia lake has been recovered.

Department of Natural Resources spokesman Mark McKinnon tells local news outlets the body was recovered Monday and that 22-year-old Gerardo Soto, Jr. was reported missing Sunday afternoon. He was last seen swimming in Allatoona Lake near Red Top Mountain State Park Beach.

McKinnon says crews searched for Soto immediately after he was reported missing through sunset Sunday, and the search resumed around 7:30 a.m. Monday.
