FLOWERY BRANCH -- National Voter Registration Day is six weeks away, but the city of Flowery Branch is looking to expand the event to offer more opportunities to register.

"We've decided to go above and beyond the one-day registration and do voter registration month," City Clerk Melissa McCain said at the city council's Thursday meeting.

She said city officials will attempt to hold an event each week at various locations in the city that will target its various subdivisions and residential areas. Those events would be held on the following dates:

All events to be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.

  • September 5 at Alberta Banks Park on Jim Crow Road (targeting Anaguluskee, Newberry Point and Madison Creek)
  • September 12 targeting Mulberry Village, location to be determined
  • September 19 targeting Tidewater Cove, Harbor Lights, and the downtown area and Lights Ferry Road, location to be determined
  • September 26 (National Voter Registration Day) at the Sterling on the Lake club house

McCain said city officials wanted to expand the services due to the amount of new residents moving in to the various areas of the city.

The city will need to be approved by Hall County to conduct these events. McCain said county officials would consult with the city on Monday.

She said new residents in the city can also use the events to sign up for city water service.
