Fire destroys building, vehicles, motorcycle near Lula

HOMER — Banks County Fire/Emergency Medical Services Chief Steve Nichols on Friday released details of a Tuesday-night structure fire near Lula.

“On July 25, at 7:24 p.m., units from Banks County Fire/EMS responded to 659 Ridge Lane, Lula, for a reported structure fire,” Nichols said. “Upon arrival, they found a 30-by-30 outbuilding garage well involved with fire.”

A small brush fire of less than one acre was controlled by fire personnel, and the structure fire was extinguished.

The garage was destroyed, as were two vehicles and a motorcycle, Nichols said.

The home on the property also had some minor heat damage, but was minimized by firefighters’ efforts to protect it, Nichols said.

Water had to be shuttled several miles for the firefighting effort due to no hydrants on the dirt road, located off Moccasin Gap Road near Lula.
