HOMER — A Jefferson woman is facing charges in a wreck that resulted in the death of a Carnesville man in Banks County Friday morning.
Shanda McClure, 35, of Jefferson was driving her 2013 Hyundai Sonata north on Ga. 63 and, while attempting to negotiate a curve, failed to maintain her lane of travel striking the other vehicle head-on, according to Sgt. Auston Allen of Georgia State Patrol Post 6 in Gainesville.
That second vehicle, a 2000 Honda V8F motorcycle, was driven by 53-year-old Dean Graham of Carnesville, according to Allen.
Graham died at the scene, Allen said. McClure, who was wearing a lap and shoulder belt, suffered non-incapacitating upper extremity injuries, but was not transported for treatment.
After impact, the car struck a fire hydrant and the motorcycle caught fire, Allen said.
Allen said McClure faces charges of failure to maintain lane and second-degree vehicular homicide.
The collision occurred just after 8:30 a.m. on Ga. 63 north of Wilson Bridge Road.
Emergency personnel remained on scene until 10:45 a.m., according to Banks County Fire/EMS Chief Steve Nichols.
Georgia Department of Public Safety Troop B Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team is conducting an independent investigation.
