CLARKESVILLE — The Habersham County Sheriff's Office is seeking the public's help locating a man they say set fire to a home on Mt. Zion Road near Alto overnight as a result of a domestic dispute.

"The suspect, Jeffery Jones, had set fire to the residence while his family was present in the residence," said Habersham County Sheriff's Capt. Floyd Canup. "All parties escaped the residence without major injury."

Canup said Jones left the scene in a blue 2012 Ford Focus, possibly in possession of two handguns, prior to the arrival of emergency personnel.

Felony warrants have been issued for Jones’ arrest, and he should be considered armed and dangerous, Canup said. Jones possibly is in Franklin County or another surrounding county.

Anyone who sees Jones is asked not to approach him and to dial 9-1-1 immediately.

The fire was reported around 3:30 a.m., with firefighters from Habersham County, Baldwin and Lee Arrendale State Prison dispatched, as well as medical personnel from Habersham Emergency Medical Services.

AccessWDUN is working to obtain a physical description of Jones, or a possible license plate number for the vehicle.
