Seattle, Canada, Romania, the Czech Republic... Kaley Martin has a busy summer in store.
But it's a trip to Tokyo that the White County resident has on her ultimate to-do list. And while the 2020 Summer Olympics in Japan are still some way off Martin is globe-trekking this summer in order to help make that flight to Tokyo a reality.
And as the fastest flatwater canoe athlete in the United States, the 19-year-old Martin has plenty of reason for excitement at the summer ahead -- which includes competition at the Under-23 World Championships and a stint at the International Canoe Federation camp in Prague (only one of two Americans selected for the honor).
The Lanier Canoe and Kayak Club standout recently took time to talk with AccessWDUN video producer Seth Chapman about the work, travels and excitement ahead of her, while also discussing just how she got to this point.
