Three public hearings are planned to discuss a proposed tax increase from the Gwinnett County Board of Education.
Officials are proposing a school millage rate of 21.85 mills, the same as the previous fiscal year, according to a statement from Sloan Roach, Gwinnett County Public Schools spokeswoman.
The budget, which will increase by approximately $23.7 million, includes a 2-percent cost-of-living increase for teacher salaries, an uptick in employee benefits costs and equalization grant earnings.
All three hearings will be held at the J. Alvin Wilbanks Instructional Support Center, located on Old Peachtree Road in Suwanee.
The first two will be held June 26 at 11:45 a.m. and 7 p.m., and a third will be held July 12 at 7 p.m.
