Fire heavily damages White County home Wednesday morning

By Dean Dyer WRWH Radio

CLEVELAND — A White County home was heavily damaged by fire early Wednesday.

At approximately 6 a.m., White County firefighters, with automatic aid from Cleveland Fire Department and Lee Arrendale State Prison Fire Department, responded to a reported structure fire on Lakeview Lane west of the Cleveland city limits.

Upon arrival at 27 Lakeview Lane, firefighters found an estimated 1,700-square-foot home with flames through the roof of the carport and just beginning to extend to the main house, according to White County Fire Department spokeswoman Ana Newberry.

The occupants were out of the home upon arrival of fire personnel, Newberry said. Firefighters made a quick knockdown of the fire.

Newberry said the homeowner said she “awoke to the smell of smoke and later heard an explosion”, and quickly exited the structure with her children.

Both local and state fire investigators were called to the scene to investigate and attempt to identify the cause.

Newberry said the home is unlivable because of the fire.
