By AccessWDUN Staff

BUFORD — The Buford girls soccer team not only clinched a state championship game on appearance on Tuesday, they did so while making a statement.

The No. 2 Lady Wolves blew past top-ranked Whitewater 5-0 in the Class AAAAA semifinal on home turf, clinching a spot in Friday's title showdown in Macon.

Buford will take on McIntosh at 5 p.m. Friday at Mercer University in Macon as it guns for its first ever state championship.

The Lady Wolves (17-2-2) should trek south with plenty of confidence after Tuesday's performance.

Ava Sherman and Kristen Edmond each scored twice for Buford in the semifinals, while Morgan Smith added one goal. Cameron Hall, Arden Paulino, Maggie Davis and Reagan Coleman each provided one assist apiece.
