COMMERCE — The Commerce ground game was in midseason form Friday night as the Tigers churned up 451 yards rushing in taking a 43-0 win over rival Banks County at Ray Lamb Stadium.
Lane Sorrow had a pair of touchdown runs and Cole Chancey added a 37-yard score in the first quarter as Commerce (1-0) built a 22-0 lead in the opening 12 minutes.
Will Thomas added a pair of third quarter scoring runs of 11- and 21-yards and Easley Smith capped the scoring with a 3-yard run, which was set up by an 82-yard run by Nick Patrick.
The Tigers will play host to Hebron Christian in their Region 8-A opener while Banks County (0-2) will travel to Johnson next week.
