Gainesville getting nearly $578,000 for senior center operations

Legacy Link, the Gainesville-based Area Agency on Aging for 13 northeast Georgia counties, has announced funding awards for the coming fiscal year, including $577,903 for Gainesville City Government. 
 
State and federal funding included in the sub-contracts to local governments is designated for services provided at local county senior centers. Included are noon meals, meals-on-wheels, transportation, senior center management, educational programming, and wellness activities. 
 
The other awards include: Banks County Commission $88,212, Dawson County Commission $97,509, Forsyth County Commission $338,257, Franklin County Commission $150,451, Habersham County Commission $202,718, Hart County Government $119,302, Lumpkin County Government $115,823, Rabun County Government $19,430, and White County Government $141,091,
 
 Legacy Link operates the Towns and Union County Senior Centers at the request of those two county governments. The monies set aside for those centers total Towns County: $90,880 and Union County $165,450. 
 
These amounts do not include the local monies budgeted to support services.
