Longtime Gainesville school crossing guard to to be honored next week

Jacob Wilmont, a longtime school crossing guard for the Gainesville City School System, will be recognized next week at two events.
 
The first will be held Wednesday at 9:30 at Enota Multiple Intelligences Academy.  The second will be a community celebration Saturday, May 7, at 4:00 at St. John Baptist Church.
 
Wilmont retired from the City of Gainesville after 30 years with Gainesville Parks and Recreation but continued to work with Gainesville City Schools and has worked for over 40 years as a crossing guard and safety guard for the school system.  Additionally, he has managed the safety at Bobby Gruhn Field for football games and other athletic events.
 
At the present time, Wilmont is the crossing guard for Enota and Gainesville Middle schools.
