Soccer: Toledo leads East Hall boys past Oglethorpe Co., girls finish in tie

LEXINGTON — The Class AAA second-ranked East Hall Vikings boys soccer team ran its win streak to five straight after routing Oglethorpe County 9-1 Tuesday night in a non-region match on the road.

The Vikings (13-1, 3-0 Region 7-AAA) got four more goals from Leo Toledo, who also added an assist. Carlos Castrejon scored twice and had two assists and Maury Ibarra also scored two goals for East Hall. Oscar Gonzalez scored one goal to go with two assists and Kevin Bran, Alex Arrelano, and Geizi Barrientos each had one assist for the Vikings.

Amir Solis had two saves and Oscar Rosas had one save in goal for East Hall.

In the girls match, the Lady Vikings had their three match win streak snapped in a 1-1 tie with the Lady Patriots but they ran their unbeaten streak to four.

East Hall (5-8-1, 2-1) got itws lone goal from Irlanda Mejia off an assist from Kimberly Quintanilla.

Maryanna Hernandez had 14 saves in goal for the Lady Vikings.

Both teams play at home Friday in a apir of huge Region 7-AAA battles against Lumpkin County. Kickoff of the first game is slated for 5 p.m. at East hall Stadium.
