Monday is the opening day of qualifying in Georgia for the May 24 General Election primaries and in Hall County offices ranging from surveyor to sheriff to county commission chairman will be up for grabs this year.
Candidates will be required to qualify at one of three places, depending on the office they are seeking and their party affiliation.
"All state offices (such as state Representative and state Senator) will qualify in Atlanta," county Elections Director Charlotte Sosebee said. "Local Republican candidates will qualify at the Republican Headquarters on Queen City Parkway (and) Democratic and Non-Partisan will qualify at the Elections Office."
Qualifying will end at noon Friday for the following offices:
County Commission Chairman and Posts 2 and 4
County Board of Education, posts 3 and 4
Court Clerk
Sheriff
Tax Commissioner
Coroner
Surveyor
Chief Magistrate
Probate Judge
Superior Court Judge (seat now held by Bonnie Oliver)
Superior Court Judge (seat now held by Kathlene Gosselin)
State Court Judge (seat now held by Charles Wynne)
State Court Judge (seat now held by Gene Roberts)
***Statewide races that will be on the ballot include:
U.S. Senator (seat now held by Johnny Isakson)
U.S. Representative (seat now held by Doug Collins)
State Senator (Districts 49 and 50)
State Representative (Districts, 27, 29, 30, and 103)
