As calendar year 2016 draws to a close, the Gainesville City School System is gearing up for the 2017-18 school year.
School officials, in a recent press release, announced key dates and information for the new year, which includes data for the planned opening of a new school, Mundy Mill Academy.
Included is a reminder that families that live in the Mundy Mill Academy’s attendance zone must provide transportation to any elementary school that is selected outside of the attendance zone. Additionally, transportation must be provided by families who select Mundy Mill Academy, but live outside of the Mundy Mill attendance zone.
Pre-K registration and Pre-K Lottery drawing for 2017-18 (CITY RESIDENTS)
Sign up for the Pre-K Lottery on January 15-31, 2017 at New Holland Knowledge Academy located at 170 Barn Street. The lottery drawing for all Pre-K enrollments will take place on February 3, 2017. Mundy Mill Academy will house one Pre-K class for families living in Mundy Mill Academy zone. The remaining eight Pre-K classes will be housed at New Holland Knowledge Academy.
Kindergarten Enrollment for 2017-18
Parents/Guardians should register rising kindergarten students at the elementary school they would like their child to attend for the upcoming 2017-18 school year on January 3-20, 2017 from 8:00 to 1:00. Parents should bring the following documents: birth certificate, immunization form #3231, ears, eyes and dental certificate #3300, social security card (if available), and 2 proofs of residency documents which include one of the following: current lease/mortgage/purchase agreement, current warranty or quit claim deed, current paycheck stub/IRS Form 1099, current homeowner’s insurance policy AND a copy of a current (within 30 days) utility (gas, water, electric, cable/internet bill with service address), and photo ID of parent/guardian.

Currently Enrolled City Residents in Grades PK-4
Choice Enrollment forms will come home with currently enrolled pre-kindergarten through 4th grade students on January 3, 2017. All parents should complete and return choice enrollment forms to the schools by January 20, 2017.
Newly Enrolling City Resident Students in Grades 1-11
Newly enrolling city residents should register at the School Board Office located at 508 Oak Street from 8:00– 4:00 from January 3-20, 2017. Parents should bring the following documents: birth certificate, immunization form #3231, ears, eyes and dental certificate #3300, social security card, school transcripts/records, 2 proofs of residency documents which include one of the following: current lease/mortgage/purchase agreement, current warranty or quit claim deed, current paycheck stub/IRS Form 1099, current homeowner’s insurance policy AND a copy of a current (within 30 days) utility (gas, water, electric, cable/internet bill with service address), and photo ID of parent/guardian.
Newly Enrolling Non Residents for 2017-18
Newly enrolling non-residents for the upcoming 2017-18 school year should register at the Gainesville City School System School Board Office at 508 Oak Street bJanuary 23 – 31, 2017 from 8:00– 4:00. Parents should bring the following documents: birth certificate, immunization form #3231, ears, eyes and dental certificate #3300, social security card, photo ID of parent/guardian, and school transcripts/records. Parents will be notified of acceptance or denial on or before February 6, 2017.
Proof of Residency Verification 2017-18
Proof of Residency verification for the 2017-18 school year will begin July 10, 2017 at each school. All students registered for the 2017-18 school year will be required to submit 2 proofs of residency (city residents) and 1 proof of residency (non-residents).
