Principal selected for new Mundy Mill Academy

Dr. Crystal Brown will be the first principal of Mundy Mill Academy, beginning in January.

Brown comes from Fayetteville, NC; she has worked in education since 1995, serving as an orchestra teacher, assistant principal and principal, according to a press release from the Gainesville City School System.

"I am honored to serve as the principal of Mundy Mill Academy. I look forward to collaborating with students, staff members, parents and community members as we work together in preparation for the 2017-2018 school year. Opening a new school is an exciting, yet challenging, endeavor," said Brown.

"Rest assured that the students of Mundy Mill Academy will have a safe and orderly environment in which to learn, qualified and caring teachers, and will be provided opportunities to grow academically, emotionally, and socially."

She holds a Bachelor of Music degree from East Carolina University, a Masters of School Administration from Fayetteville State University and a Ph.D. in Educational Administration from North Carolina State University.

On Monday, the Gainesville City School Board approved the attendance zone for its newest school.
