By Caleb Hutchins Assistant News Director

A Winder man is facing multiple charges including cruelty to children amid an investigation into his child's head injuries Wednesday night.

According to a release from the Winder Police Department, 31-year-old Stephen Lee Pritchett was arrested after officials determined he was abusive with the three month old child on multiple occasions.

The investigation started after the child was checked into Scottish Rite Hospital in Atlanta by its mother with what police called "both old and recent head trauma" and bone fractures. Hospital officials then alerted Winder police who then began a welfare check on Pritchett's home.

Pritchett faces two counts of cruelty to children as well as two counts of aggravated battery. Police said the investigation is still ongoing and more information is expected to be released later.
