Cleveland tackling redesigned sign ordinance

By Dean Dyer WRWH Radio

CLEVELAND - New Cleveland Mayor Shan Ash says he is ready for the challenge of leading the city.

In a statement at the city council's first meeting of 2016, Ash said, "I want to work closely with the appointed board members and all department heads, and I look for a smooth transition. I'm excited for what we can do for the City of Cleveland."

Ash and new Councilwoman Nan Bowen, along with the other council members, faced their first major issue of the new administration: redesigning of the city’s sign regulations.

Cleveland has issued a 120-day moratorium while officials review the regulations. The review is a result of legal issues that arose with other cities.

Following discussion, the council instructed City Attorney Grant Keene to work with City Clerk Connie Tracas and outside legal counsel and come up with a revised document.
