Greater Hall Chamber to support E-SPLOST effort

By AccessWDUN Staff
GAINESVILLE — After surveying board members and getting a positive response, the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce will form a campaign team push for passage of an E-SPLOST that will appear on the ballot this fall.

GHCC Executive Director Kit Dunlap announced in an email to board members that 73 members had responded to a survey about chamber support for the penny sales tax for education. Of those who responded, only three opposed Chamber support of the E-SPLOST. Dunlap noted that E-SPLOST V will be an extension of the current penny sales tax for education.

The campaign team will be known as 2015 Citizens for Better Education.

The ESPLOST that will appear on the November 3 ballot is expected to generate as much as $195 million for the school systems in Gainesville,  Buford and Hall County.
