Motorcyclist killed in Habersham crash

CLARKESVILLE - A Clarkesville man died in a two-vehicle wreck near North Georgia Technical College Thursday night.

The wreck occurred around 8:20 p.m. on Sutton Mill Road at Country Creek Lane.

According to Trooper 1st Class Aaron Church of Georgia State Patrol Post 7, a 1996 Honda CR250R motorcycle driven by 35-year-old Bobby Lee Brown of Clarkesville.was traveling west on Sutton Mill Road negotiating a curve.

As the motorcycle entered the curve, it began to travel toward the double yellow line, Church said. The motorcycle then laid down on its right side and skidded across the roadway.

A 2001 Chevrolet K3500 truck driven by 47-year-old Clark Murphy of Clarkesville was traveling east on Sutton Mill Road negotiating a curve.

The truck came to a stop with its right front on the edge of the roadway, Church said. The motorcycle and motorcyclist then struck the front of the truck.

Church said the truck came to rest facing east in the eastbound lane. The motorcycle came to rest on its right side against the right front tire of the truck facing northeast. Impact was in the eastbound lane of the roadway.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.
