Economic impact of Lake Lanier Olympic Venue

GAINESVILLE — The Lake Lanier Olympic Venue has shown an economic impact of $6.2 million so far this fiscal year (FY 15), according to a study by the Gainesville Parks & Recreation Department.  The fiscal year ends June 30.

In addition, the report shows that in one calendar year, which includes the American Collegiate Rowing Association National Championships held at the end of May 2014, the overall economic impact is just over $7.8 million. 

Other events to be calculated for FY15 include:
The Lake Show - May 30
Gainesville Hall Dragon Boat Challenge - June 6
Southern Invitational - June 13

"This report goes to show that the Lake Lanier Olympic Venue not only plays a big financial role in the success of our community but it also supports the fact that this venue and park (Clarks Bridge Park) offers the best location for local, national and international events," said Venue Manager Morgan House.

1/4-10/15 - University of Virginia - $120,269

Feb/March 15 -  Training Camp - $1,643,038

2/28/15 - Mark Williams Ergatta - $6,191

3/28/15 - John Hunter Regatta - $355,277

4/27-5/3/15 - Canadian Team Trials - $119,430

5/9-10/15 - SE JR Championships - $1,225,931

5/23-24/15 - ACRA - $1,526,236
